I love this portrayal of the submissive man as captured hero. His shield and helmet are right next to him, giving the sense that he fought boldly up until the moment he was overpowered and chained. I look at it and think, he looks brave. Probably a bit nervous, too, though. He’ll try to hide it, at first. But knowing that only makes me ache more to make him cry.
